Training for the IMPI Challenge
The IMPI Challenge
The Impi Challenge looks to be the most fun you could have running 10km’s (for the ‘elite’ that is). The route is mapped out over 12km’s with 17 obstacles ranging from a simple mud crawl to high rise elevated obstacles. The terrain will be muddy and wet – will you be ready?!
If you are preparing for the IMPI Challenge, why not train with a group of like-minded runners? One80 and itrainedtoday have put together an itinerary to help prepare for the treacherous conditions and help improve your performance. A group will be meeting every Tuesday evening from 6pm at the Milnerton Lifesaving Clubhouse (next to Milnerton Lighthouse) for soft-sand beach runs and various obstacles to start ‘warming up’ for what should be an awesome event. There will also be Wednesday and Thursday Group Session held at One80 at 7pm to help cope with the physical demands required to tackle the Impi Challenge.
Tuesday Group ‘Milnerton Lifesaving Club (Free)
The Tuesday group is fun, social with ‘jogs’ lasting anywhere between 5km to 11km running at your own pace. This Group is also a perfect avenue to try out your kit under similar conditions before race day. There will also be various obstacles included to further benefit your preparation for race day. Any member of the Tuesday group qualifies for a reduced rate for personal training with One80!
Tuesday will be followed by a trip to one of the many ‘watering holes’ on the Milnerton Beach front, where ‘war stories’ can be relayed.
Wednesday & Thursday Group ‘Elite Workout’ (R50/class)
